ReadingOlive is a one man project that was started in April 2024. The project took off on the 4 of May 2024.
Needles to say, as only one person working on the ReadingOlive in its afterhours, the resources put into ReadingOlive are limited. However, being a software engineer with managerial skills I have been successful in building the backend & frontend and every other part of ReadingOlive, as well as taking care of articles and doing marketing.
I have decided to keep a report of achievements, statistics and costs in one place for the public in the name of the spirit of Transparency and Honesty. First report will be focused on the first 30 days of ReadingOlive existence, all other reports will be on published on a quarterly basis.
Results for the first thirty days of ReadingOlive
Published 4 Jun 2024.
As the first month of ReadingOlive comes to an end, I can say that the numbers show a great success. Numbers retrieved from the first 30 day of ReadingOlive reveal that some metrics surpass some much bigger players in the field. These numbers will be used as a benchmark for other reports to come.
Results summary:
Using our primary analytics tools during the initial 30 days, ReadingOlive recorded a total of 1,020 visits from 749 unique visitors, yielding a retention rate of 36%. Analysis reveals that on average, each visitor read 3.95 pages during their time on the platform, or 2.90 pages per visit. Notably, the majority of visitors hailed from North America and Europe, with these regions comprising 9 out of the top 10 countries in terms of visitor origin.
Looking at the data provided by our CDN provider our unique visitors and pages visited numbers skyrocket with having 5340 unique visitors and 144730 page reads, I however, have a reason to believe that a part of these numbers comes from different bots and scrapers. Looking at the our secondary analytics tools this product has more than 1200 unique visitors during the first 30 days of existence, but as these numbers are not in the maximum or minimum range we will not see them in this report.
Summary disclaimer:
The main analytics tool isn't fully set up and by comparing the metrics from all tools in my disposal I am now certain there a room for improvements in the primary analytics tools. Prior to this report I have compared data from three different sources: two analytics tools and the CDN provider, however, in the report we will be mainly looking at the report with the most conservative/smallest numbers, the primary analytics tool.
I am aware it is not a standard in the industry to show most conservative metrics, I am also aware that other players in the field are using the biggest numbers they can get their hands on, only to justify their existence and over the top budgets they are awarded. But in the spirit oh honesty and fairness I have decided to take the conservative numbers. Going through this report you must keep in mind that ReadingOlive actual performance is better than what's shown here.
