Donated Sperm 1000 Times, Netflix Exposed Him: Dubbed the "Serial Donor"

Netflix's new hit documentary, The Man with 1000 Kids, has brought to light the story of a prolific sperm donor, Dutchman Jonathan Jacob Meijer. The documentary features interviews with numerous women and couples who claim Meijer deceived them. He assured prospective parents that he had donated sperm only a few times, but it is believed he may have done so up to 1000 times.

Serial Sperm Donor

The issue surfaced when parents across the Netherlands noticed similarities among children conceived via artificial insemination using Meijer's sperm. His donations were not limited to the Netherlands; he is believed to be the biological father of thousands of children worldwide. This has earned him the moniker "serial sperm donor."

Donating Out of Love

In media interviews, the 42-year-old Dutch YouTuber expressed disappointment with the documentary, stating that it misrepresented his intentions as a donor to many families and that the actual number is much lower. Initially, he claimed around 250 children, later mentioning up to 500. "The assumption of 1000 is ridiculous. I am disappointed by the obsession with numbers. I became a donor out of love and to help parents achieve their dreams," Meijer said.

He admitted to the Independent that he had become "addicted" to sperm donation. "Sometimes I thought it was too many children and that maybe I should stop, but then I would receive a new message and find it hard to say no," he shared. He believes the documentary selectively features dissatisfied families.

Banned from Further Sperm Donations

While Netflix has yet to respond to Meijer's claims, the documentary's executive producer, Natalie Hill, commented on the situation. "I spent the last four years speaking with families affected by Jonathan's lies. I personally talked to 45 or 50 families," she told the BBC.

Meijer is now prohibited from donating sperm in the Netherlands, facing a $100,000 fine for each future donation.
